Our favourite outdoor gear finds this season

Here are eight pieces of outdoor gear that will get you out there exploring and having fun this season.

Keen Mosey Leather Chukka

This super-comfortable brushed leather shoe is fall-stroll ready with a soft upper and high-traction rubber outsole. The Chukkas come with two sets of 100 per cent recycled PET laces as well as environmentally preferred leather from an LWF-certified tannery. Once you put these on, you won’t want to take them off whether inside or outside, which makes it even better news that the soles are completely non-marking, $145.

Hotcore Hypnos 3 sleeping pad

Looking for some fall camping, this new all-purpose three-season sleeping pad is just right. Insulated for warmth and designed for comfort with a large tapered shape, the fine folks of Canadian brand Hotcore Outdoor Products crafted a gem with baffle wall contraction to eliminate cold spots and allow for a comfy night’s rest. We love that it inflates using the roll-top stuff sack and comes with its own repair kit, $129.99.

Newell Calypso Inflatable Paddleboard

We started echoing out this gem just recently and love it already. Sure, the season is waning but with an inflatable paddleboard that’s as easy to transport and set up as this one, chasing summer will become a passion. Like the music after which this SUP board was named, the Calypso allows paddlers to find and follow the rhythm of the waves all day long, whether on flatwater ripples or playing in the surf. What we love about Newell boards is that they all come as one complete set, so there is no need to remember to order a specific pump or anything else. But the best part could be that each board ships with a kayak seat that allows paddlers to convert their boards to a fun kayak when the mood strikes. The Calypso is great for beginner to intermediate paddlers thanks to some of the best stability you can find in an inflatable kayak. The length of 10’6” and 32” width make it ideal for lakes, rivers, and even some ocean surf. The backpack is well-designed with plenty of room and comfortable straps for carrying, $650.

Saucony Endorphin Pro 3

Looking for a new pair of fall kicks to, ahem, kickstart your training this season? Look no further than the big and bold Saucony Endorphin Pro 3. These shoes are built for spend and feature a carbon-fibre plate and super-thick foam cushioning for that running-on-a-cloud feeling that will allow you to hit some serious mph. We love the SPEEDROLL technology that propels you forward and the grippy XT-900 outsole. Super-comfortable and breathable, $225.

Outdoor Research Women’s Juneau Sherpa Fleece Coat

Warm and wonderfully soft to the touch, the Juneau Sherpa Fleece Jacket is an ultra-cosy fleece with a sherpa exterior that's dense with warmth in a relaxed fit for those chilly days out on the town or camping in the fall. The luxurious sherpa fleece on this coat is breathable, wicking and quick drying. It even has UPF 50+. We love the button front closures and the Dolman sleeves. Perfect for fall, $159.

Swrve Wander Over Shirt

In search of a stylish light jacket that is versatile enough for those unique fall situations in which we always find ourselves? Look no further than the Wander Over Shirt from Los Angeles-based apparel maker swrve. This stylish light jacket is also great for wearing every day, whether temperatures are taking a dip, or the sun finally comes out for an afternoon ride. It’s one of those gear items that look and function well on the ride down to the patio for an afternoon meet-up, and look even better as a casual cool fashion statement while socializing. The Wander Over Shirt is constructed of four-way stretch material to give your arms and shoulders plenty of freedom to move as well as offering light water resistance should any of those unexpected fall showers happen, $135US.

Kitsbow Haskell Pant

Looking for some rugged yet stylish pants for that urban commute, check out the Haskell Pant from Kitsbow, $229US. No worries heading right into the office from the bike with these. Move with complete freedom with this tailored fabric that is both soft and durable, not to mention water-repellent, $172US.
