Secret spots: Five places Olympian Alannah Yip loves in North Vancouver

Canadian national women's climbing champion Alannah Yip is fresh off an appearance at the Tokyo Summer Olympics where she competed in the first-ever Olympic climbing competition.

Yip is Canada’s reigning national women's climbing champion and grew up in North Vancouver where she took up climbing after watching her brother and his friend and fellow Olympian Sean McColl.

She started climbing when she was 10 years old at The Edge Climbing Center in North Vancouver (now Climb Base 5 North Van).

Here are her five fave local spots:

Lynn Canyon for running, walking, hiking, and swimming.

Deep Cove for paddling, hiking, hanging out, and doughnuts!

Mount Seymour for skiing, mountain biking, and more.

Climb Base 5: “indoor climbing with a fantastic community.”

Moja Coffee: "Yum."
