Excitement Building For Beer Run

Famous Canadian Beer Run will make all of your amber dreams come true

Imagine crossing the finish line directly into the heart of a city craft beer and food festival. Sound like your idea of runner heaven? Look no further than the new Famous Canadian Beer Run, coming to Ontario Place in Toronto on September 18, 2016. There has been a lot of excitement building up to this race and now that registration is open it seems a sell out of bibs is imminent. We’re feeling pretty stoked about what’s in store for Toronto / GTA runners and beer lovers alike. Here’s are the basics.

The 5K route is a closed course at Ontario Place. That means, no traffic or angry drivers to contend with (score one for the organizers!). The run is mostly-flat and will take runners on a tour of Ontario Place – by some of the buildings you’ll remember from visits when you were a kid (think silos and Cinesphere). The run is split into waves of 250, so you won’t have to deal with a bottleneck at the finish. Don’t expect to PB here!

After the run you’ll finish in the heart of the Craft Beer & Food Festival. With beer chips included in registration (and additional chips you can purchase at registration or on-site), you’ll get to sample some of the city’s best craft beers from brewers like High Park Brewery and Sawdust. Post race food is kicked up a notch with food truck vendors ready to tempt your taste buds. Plan to spend the afternoon and enjoy the post-race entertainment.

One of the vendors you will find at the festival is our newest event partner :The Society of Beer Drinking Ladies! This group of Toronto ladies is passionate about all things craft beer. They meet on the last Friday of every month at a secret location in the city, where they explore delicious craft beer. Come check out the Society on event day at the Festival. They will be there with their swag shop selling tanks, tees, cozies and more! Interested ladies can also sign up for their mailing list to receive information about SOBDL events and deals on beer-related events in the city. How cool is that??!

Oh, and did we mention the art? Turns out, in/future: a transformative art experience is happening at the same time as the run. As you run you’ll have the opportunity to preview outdoor art installations along the route (cool, right?) and then take a closer look after the race (additional tickets required).

Not sold? With competitive registration fees, the Famous Canadian Beer Run is racheting up the usual race perks to include: 4 beer chips with registration (good for two 8 oz beers, or four 4 oz samples), race shirt, commemorative beer stein, customized race bib, race kit and entry into the Festival.

Beer. Running. Cool venue. Count us in! Register soon so you don't miss out and to have first pick of your wave time.
