New Balance Canada has announced it has extended its partnership with the Guelph, Ontario- based Speed River Track and Field Club. New Balance will continue on as the official footwear and apparel sponsor of the club through the 2016 season.

Under the leadership of its Head Coach Dave Scott-Thomas, the Speed River Track and Field Club has vaulted to the top of the competitive running landscape in Canada and is one of the deepest clubs in North America. The club counts among its members multiple Canadian champions as well as 2012 Olympians Reid Coolsaet, Eric Gillis, Hilary Stellingwerff and Alex Genest.

“Continuing our partnership with New Balance is huge for us,” says Dave Scott-Thomas. “New Balance brings excellent product and support, and personnel who have the same passion and ethos as we do here in The River. This is not an arm’s length relationship; this is a team and together we will continue to push the boundaries of Canadian running.”

Along with supplying new uniforms and footwear to all senior and junior members of the growing club, New Balance will also support the expanding list of events that Speed River delivers to the Canadian running community. New Balance will remain the title sponsor of the New Balance Vic Matthews Cross-country Meet, held in October, and it will add to that its presenting sponsorship of the Speed River Inferno which takes place in late May. Both events are poised to become among the most competitive middle-distance track competitions in North America.

New Balance will also support all of Speed River’s charitable endeavours in the Guelph community.
